Come down to the Club for a night with the locals. Meat packs, $100 dollar raffle, yummy roast dinner - and lots of fun to be had!


The famous Roast & Raffle nights will start again early. First on the 5th Jan.           It's a local favourite.

The Pauanui Sports & Recreation Club are honored to be host venue for a wedding being held on Saturday 18th Feb 2012.

To assist in the celebration of this event the main lounge will be cordoned off during the festivities. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but hope that you, along with the staff and board of management wish the newly weds all the best in the future.

Come along to the club for some great music ( bring your guitar and have your own go ) Enjoy the afternoon with fellow Petrol Heads and locals. Bring your car to go on display.

 Volunteers Awards Evening

 Monday 14 November 2011

 

Approximately 100 people attended the Awards Night held in the Club to recognise individuals from groups and the community for their voluntary service.    Jan Bartley Councillor presented the awards and Community Board members Gloria Giles,  Bob Renton and Barry Swindles were in attendance.  

 

Apart from the nominees for the Awards members of the Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club were recognised for the contributions they have made in 2011 in particular Pat and John Courtney.

 

There were two categories for the overall Awards.   The first the Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club Award for a volunteer from a Sub Club or User Group.   There were 13 entries in total representing the following groups:  

Art Club – Ian Fordyce,

Bridge Club – Jim Buffett,

Gardening Club – Norma Troughton, 

Mens Golf – George Osborne,

Mahjong – Pat Adams,

9 Hole Golf – Shirley Naylor,

Outdoor Bowls – Marlene Rowley, 

Probus – Lyn Gaston,

Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club – Betty Erni, 

Scottish - Dancing Irene Shaw,

Tramping – Freeman Raine,

Wine Club – Barry Swindles

Womens Golf – Cushla Peers

 

Each nominee was given a Certificate of recognition and the overall winner was Ian Fordyce nominated by the Art Club.   Ian has been a willing volunteer for over 20 years.    His carpentry skills were particularly noted and his willingness to help several groups in Pauanui apart from the Art Club was noted.   There is annual Summer Art Exhibition at the Shopping Centre each year and Ian has overseen the maintenance and setting up for all the artists that attend.

 

The second category was the Pauanui Business Association Volunteer Award.   There were 10 nominees in this category for an individual that has given voluntary service to an organisation or project in Pauanui.

 

Nominees in this category were:

Emma Ashworth  for  procuring funding for the Tsunami Warning System in Pauanui

Christine Brierley for her personal involvement in the local Pauanui Post,

Tina Carey nominated by the Red Hats Group ,

Ian Fordyce nominated by the Pauanui Library,

Ian Hunter – Support Officer and work done for the Pauanui Fire Brigade

Ann Jeffries for her work with the Handcraft Group and the donations given from that group to emergency services in  Pauanui,

Richard Jellyman for his tireless voluntary work to obtain the Tsunami Warning System in Pauanui, 

Tim Rex for his involvement and work with the Pre School in Pauanui

Paul Schrader for his tireless work for various groups in Pauanui nominated by the Community Office

Freeman Raine nominated for his work with a wide variety of groups in Pauanui including g the Coastal Walkways, Pauanui Beach Care, the Medical Trust to name a few.   

 

Freeman Raine was awarded the trophy for the Pauanui Business Association Volunteer of the Year for 2011.

 

The evening was presented by Bev Douglas and Ian Wilkinson and several stayed on at the Club after the presentations for a meal provided by Pauanui Beach Grill and an evening of comraderie and friendship.
