Presidents Pen Feb 12
Christmas gone, holidays finished and the AGM over and done with for another year.
Strong member support will give the board encouragement to get things done this year. It will be a busy few months for the board members to get a lot of needed jobs done to enable the members to further benefit. As the members who attended the AGM know it was very unanimous that the subscriptions needed to be increased to cover the increase costs of operations. The club will be looking hard this year at its costs and will endeavor to get the best for there money. We will also be working with the community board with it’s endeavor to get a rates segregation from Tauria. This would give the club a better chance of receiving some consideration from council for the services and vacillates the club provides. We await the result.
The new golf committee are on a proactive campaign to improve operational costs and get a working party involved for course improvements. This will work well for all involved and I’m very confident that this form of support will be a great rewarded.
Now that the system has some new methods of communication I encourage all with computers to get your details correct when our subs notices are sent out. It’s staggering the costs we incur for postage etc. (another unamimous vote at the AGM )
So what is going to happen around the club this year. I have a huge list of jobs. Some deferred for so long it’s not funny any more. Pot holes (again ) painting outside, gardens, cleaning and a serious look at the Mini Putt. This year we have a budget amount for our tree program. Probably still not enough but at least in the right direction. Our working party are again busy on this campaign.
The entertainment crew are busy planning events for the year. With RWC over and a normal year predicted you will need to keep an eye on upcoming events. Jam sessions. 26th Feb with a Petrol Head theme. Inviting car enthusiast to display their cars. Mid Winter Christmas, a real surprise this year. Yummy Mummies High Tea Luncheon just to name a few and who knows what Pat will pop up in the middle. Can she do any better than last years Hoe Down. As I said watch the events page on our web site.
See you at the club JC John Courtney President.
Just remember today is the oldest you’ve ever been and also the youngest you’ll ever be.

I hope by now you would of all received the notice of the AGM. If you are members all the relevant details will be enclosed. You must be thinking what sort of meeting will it be. The Protect Pauanui group are already on the campaign trail.
The notice of motion for some constitution changes are a step forward in clarifying a few issues that have come from the past, also a positive more forward towards electronic communications. A little recommendation from a past court case which will allow clearer definition of the clause. So with that over we will have a very positive meeting. The board which will consist of myself, Bill Witt, Ian Findlay, Gerry Gaston, Bev Douglas, Denis Bovaird and Michael Mathews. Trevor French is retiring and I thank Trevor again for the wonderful work he has done for the club. This has new member Bill as our money man. I welcome Bill to the board early as he is currently co-opted until AGM.
We have had some very bust times leading up to the summer. Our Summer Series program has been going extremely well. The last 3 weeks has seen the club full to the brim. The bad weather has a double take. When it’s raining and cold the club is full. When its sunny and fine the golf and mini putt are full. Overall trading at the club has been steady and we have faired well with the amount of members. All I can say is I’m pleased we undertook the spruce up as without the extra lounge area it would of been hopeless to accommodate the amount of members.
Now we are in the second run of holiday makers. The events haven’t stopped. So until the AGM I will try to relax.
Happy and a safe New Year to everyone and hope to see you at the club.
John Courtney ( JC ) President
