Presidents Pen March /April 12
With approaching Easter just days away, I’m sure along with school holidays we will see Pauanui back to full swing.
As far as the club is going, it’s been a busy time with subscription renewals and our team getting ready for a bit of a rush. The past Christmas period was good for the club financially with solid trading and good members usage.
Our golf courses have been cored and they will be in good shape for Easter. What with our exceptionally damp summer the grass will not stop growing. This of course has been good for them and playing conditions excellent.
The clubs sections will be the major item of focus over the next month. The Board taking them to auction. So get ready to buy, they will be excellent value. Contact Richardson's for details and times. Take a few minutes out and walk over them. They are good sites thats for sure.
On the clubs other matters we have come a long way into our commitment to the play centre with an agreement in the final stages, giving play centre a long term commitment for there future security. We are also embarking on a bit for the children, with an early dinner and movie on a Sunday. We will get this underway very soon. This should prove popular with the locals and the ones wanting an early dinner before heading home.
On a very sad note I want to inform members that the lobby group are back to there tricks. They placed information on the local radio station informing that the club was cutting up the golf courses for sections. The response was devastating and when the facts were given to the radio station they immediately made a retraction. This type of propaganda is totally unnecessary and once again goes to show where they are coming from. Never the less damaging for the club. Was that the intention I wonder.
Lets move on from this. On a positive side our club is going good. We are confident that things will get even better. The economy is showing strength of improvement and this will have a roll on effects.
On a little house keeping, as most will know we have an ATM machine. The only one in Pauanui. Can you please use it to take the pressure off the bar. This will speed things up and keep all happy.
Around the club our volunteers are back in full swing. Lots of gardening, mini putt, pot holes (a temporary until we save up ) and a general clean up. This bunch of locals are the backbone of this great club. I thank them very much.
Just around the corner on the 28th April we have our fun Medieval night. A fun night for all. Tickets are limited for this so grab yours from the bar as not to miss out.
Well with Pat and I off on a long overdue holiday at the end of the month, we will be away for a while. My capable colleagues and staff are more than capable and probably glad to see the back of us for a while.
Regards John Courtney ( President ) JC
Be nice and smile to everyone you meet. You don’t know what they are going through and may need that smile, and treasure it.
