The Lakes course is a scenic gem, offering golfers a more open layout accented by tranquil water features. Though largely forgiving, the course presents its own set of challenges, especially with greens bordered by lakes that require accuracy and confidence in approach shots. The combination of water hazards and well-placed fairways creates an inviting yet slightly more technical experience. Perfect for golfers seeking a friendly course with a few strategic tests, The Lakes balances beauty with playability, making it a delightful round for everyone.
Local Rules
Rule 16-1 applies where tree roots impede a swing – take relief within one club length, no nearer the hole.
Rule 16-1 gives relief where trees or shrubs, under two club lengths or staked, impede a swing – take relief within one club length, no nearer the hole.
For a lost or out-of-bounds ball, you have the option to replay the shot with an additional one-stroke penalty (Rule 18), or drop in the fairway at the point where the ball crossed the boundary or was lost, adding an additional two strokes.
15 cm Mark, Clean, and Place through the green, unless advised otherwise by the starter.
On The Lakes #5, under Section 8 B1 of the R&A Rules, the red penalty area along the culvert in front of the green is deemed to extend to where it meets the main creek. As such, when a ball enters the culvert in front of the green (in the red-staked penalty area), washes down, and stops before reaching the main creek on the right, ending up out of bounds, the player can drop a ball back at the agreed point of entry to the red-staked area with a one-stroke penalty.
Behind The Pines #2 green are trees and shrubs, which are NOT considered a “flower bed.” Therefore, no free drop is allowed.
